Society Futures

Society Futures works with organisations and stakeholders, within the region, to help understand the opportunities and threats facing the North East. By taking a longer term view, Society Futures builds a broader perspective against which to judge policy actions.

Working with regional partnerships and organisations from the public and private sectors, Society Futures creates a wider set of policy options for addressing regional strengths and weaknesses and for avoiding threats and realising opportunities.

By taking part in Future Matters programmes, regional bodies can produce a more coherent and deliverable strategy which ultimately represents better value for public expenditure.

Programmes take place with senior policy makers from the third and public sectors engaging in long term. Drivers for change are identified which will have a direct effect on policies developed by public bodies, environmental partnerships, community groups and voluntary organisations.

By participating in these programmes and web based interactive exercises, policy makers will be able to include ideas gathered from a wide range of sources from across the globe. This creates a dynamic planning mechanism in which futures techniques are efficiently employed to inform key decision makers leading to more inclusive and coherent strategies.
